Twice a year our management board host a series of forums to which all staff are invited.
The purpose of these ‘staff forums’ is to keep staff up-to-date with what has gone on both in Elmbridge and nationally (where it affects Elmbridge) over the past six months and looking into the future. A guest speaker is often invited to share their experience of a project they have worked on.
The forums run for approximately an hour. During the first half hour the three members of our management board give brief presentations around their service area:
elections and organisation
finance, budget, ICT and housing
environmental services, waste and recycling, leisure, culture and support services
A variety of subjects are addressed and an open question and answer session follows. Any employee can ask a question which could be related to the presentations or another work topic that they feel needs discussing.
The forums are always well attended and prove a useful and informative hour out of the working day. They help to give an insight into the workings of the Council along with interactive access to management board for those staff that don’t work directly with them.
